Environment The modern and dynamic Vilafamés has managed to keep its folklore, festivities and cooking and at the same time strengthen its patrimonial wealth and the huge ecological value of its natural areas. The emerging ceramic industry is currently the local economy’s driving force.
A past of several thousand years A trip through its history and art It is an impressive mass of red rock at the foot of Asunción parish church. In plaza del Ayuntamiento, the town hall has maintained its Renaissance proportions. A visit to Batlle palace, the former residence of the royal administrator and representative of the Montesa Order is also a must. Nowadays it holds Vicente Aguilera Cerni Contemporary Art Museum with the works of some 400 artists, such as Miró, Chillida, Canogar, Josep Renau, Equipo Crónica and Genovés. Other places of interest are the Sang Gothic church which is of a medieval origin and the Sant Miquel chapel (19th century). Piques, Bolimini and Clot Its water has diuretic qualities. Bolimini Cave is also in the outskirts of Vilafamés. Clot is a circular cavity with a surface area of 1,300 sq m and a depth of between 8 to 16 m. |
